Halloween in Kansas City's Crossroads: Masquerade 2.0 at Border
Looking for a Halloween party in Kansas City? Masquerade 2.0 hits Border Brewing in the Crossroads on Friday, Oct 30. Costumes, cocktails, no cover.
Hunting for something to do in Kansas City this Halloween? Here’s the plan, and why the Crossroads is where you want to be on the 30th.
Every October, Kansas City fills up with the same two kinds of Halloween night. There’s the ticketed warehouse party, forty dollars at the door, a line down the block, and a drink that costs as much as the cover. Then there’s staying home with a bowl of candy and the porch light off. One’s expensive, the other’s a surrender.
There’s a third option this year, and it’s a good one.
The short version
Masquerade 2.0 at Border Brewing Co.
Friday, October 30, 2026, from 8:30 PM to midnight, at Border Brewing Company in the Crossroads Arts District. Costumes encouraged, masks especially. Masquerade cocktails pouring all night, music, a dance floor, and a festive crowd that actually showed up to have a good time.
No cover. No tickets. Just walk in.
If you want the full rundown, it lives on the Masquerade 2.0 event page. If you’re already sold, the rest of this is for you.

A masquerade, not a costume you’ll regret
Here’s the thing about a masquerade. You don’t have to commit to a full costume to feel like you’re part of it. A mask does most of the work. Throw one on with whatever you were already going to wear and you’re in. Go all the way with the gown and the feathers if that’s your energy. Both read as effort, and neither leaves you standing in a corner at 10 PM wondering why you glued fake blood to a nice shirt.
Masks also do something a regular costume party doesn’t. They loosen the room. People talk to strangers more easily when half the face is hidden. The dance floor fills up faster. It’s a small trick, but it’s the reason masquerades have worked for a few hundred years.
Come as whatever you want. The only wrong move is showing up in gym clothes and acting surprised there’s a party.
No cover, no tickets, no math
We’ll say it again because it’s the part most Halloween events get wrong: there is no cover charge and there are no tickets to buy in advance.
That matters more than it sounds like it should. A free door means you can swing by after dinner without planning your whole night around a wristband. It means you can bring the friend who decided to come at the last minute. It means if you want to show your face, dance for an hour, and head out, nobody made you pre-pay for a night you only half used.
We make our money at the bar, the way a brewery is supposed to. So the deal is simple. You get in free, you buy what you drink, and the $5 Value Menu is running the whole time if you want to keep the night affordable. Nobody’s going to feel strange about a second round at five bucks.
What’s in your glass
The masquerade cocktails are the centerpiece, built for the night and poured all evening. Beyond those, the full bar is open: our seven flagship craft beers brewed on-site, hard ciders, hard seltzers, and the regular cocktail menu if you’d rather have a standard.
Not drinking tonight? You’re not stuck with a warm can of pop. We pour house-made sparkling lemonade and sodas, with more non-alcoholic options on the way, so the designated driver gets handed something worth holding too.
The Crossroads is the move on Halloween weekend
Picking where to spend Halloween in Kansas City is really picking a neighborhood, and the Crossroads is built for a night like this.
Border sits at 18th and Locust, right in the middle of the district. That means the party doesn’t have to end when you leave us. Restaurants, bars, and galleries are within a few blocks in every direction, so whoever wants to keep the night going can walk to the next thing, and whoever’s done can call it without a forty-minute drive home.
It’s also one of the most photogenic corners in the city. The murals that make the Crossroads what it is are a few steps from our door, and a mask in front of a wall of street art is a better Halloween photo than anything you’ll get under warehouse strobe lights.

Friday the 30th, so Halloween night is still yours
Worth pointing out: Masquerade 2.0 is on Friday the 30th, and actual Halloween falls on Saturday the 31st this year.
That’s on purpose, and it works in your favor. You get the party on Friday, then Saturday is wide open for whatever Halloween night itself calls for. Trick-or-treating with the kids, a quieter evening, another event, or nothing at all. You don’t have to choose between the costume party and the family stuff. There’s room for both.
Friday night parties also tend to run looser than the main-night crush. Nobody’s rushing to three other things. People settle in.
Getting there, and getting home
Address: Border Brewing Company, 512 E 18th Street, Kansas City, MO 64108, at 18th and Locust.
The Crossroads is one of the easier neighborhoods in the city to get in and out of without driving. The Main Street streetcar stops nearby, rideshare drops right at the door, and for a night with cocktails involved, that’s the smart way to do it. If you are driving, there’s free street parking around the district and paid lots within a block.
Our taproom is the kind of room that already looks like somewhere. Brick walls, the brewhouse behind the bar, string lights up year-round. We don’t have to decorate much to make it feel like a party, which means the atmosphere’s handled before you arrive.
RSVP and bring people
The party’s free, but letting us know you’re coming helps us staff the bar and gives you a spot to invite your crew.
RSVP on the Facebook event and tag the friends who always ask what everyone’s doing for Halloween and then don’t plan anything. This is the plan. Send it to them.
Then put on a mask and come find the dance floor.
